My mom is running Ubuntu 9.10 on her laptop, but for some reason there’s been a problem with getting sound to work. The laptop is running the Intel 82801I chipset, and the sound servers running is the default one (Pulseaudio).
On ubuntuforum.org I came across a post that fixed the sound problem I was having. Add the following lines to /etc/modules.d/alsa-base.conf, and save it:
options snd slots=snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-m4
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1
Now reboot, and (hopefully) the sound issue is resolved.
